Malkangiri: While 48 hours have passed since Dr Amlan Bhoi working at the Kalimela Community Health Center (CHC) in Odisha’s Malkangiri district went missing from his official residence on June 1 the police are clueless about his whereabouts or whether he has been abducted.
While media reports suggest that Dr Amlan Bhoi was abducted by Maoists, Malkangiri SDPO Sachin Patel told Ommcom Media on Monday that they do not have any clue in this regard. “We are investing into the matter from various angles but have not considered the Maoist angle. Nothing suggests that Dr Bhoi was abducted by Maoists,” he told Ommcom News over the phone.
“If the Maoists have abducted Dr Bhoi, there should be some clue or instances of the medico’s interactions with the Red rebels. There is no such thing,” he said, adding, “However, further investigation is underway and we are confident of finding him.”
In response to a question, Patel said, “As no CCTV is installed near Dr Amlan Bhoi’s official residence, we do not have any CCTV coverage of his activities.”
Earlier reports said that some unidentified miscreants allegedly abducted Dr Bhoi soon after he reached his quarters after completing his duty on June 1.
Dr Bhoi hails from the Tikabali area in the Kandhamal district and has been posted at the Kalimela CHC for some time now.
