Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) is to sanction ex-gratia, for the next of kin of the police personnel who were killed and to the persons injured in the polling party bus mishap in Nabarangpur district, after receiving a proposal from the Collector in this regard.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, SEC Secretary Rabindra Sahu said that ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh will be released for the next of kin of the deceased police personnel. Rs 7.5 lakh will be sanctioned in case of permanent disability, and Rs 2 lakh in case of multiple fractures to the persons injured in the accident.
When asked about re-polling, he informed that the SEC has received the proposal for re-polling at 13 places. A notification concerning the earlier and latest proposal will be released soon.
Sahu further said that around 78.3 percent voter turnout was reported during the second phase of polling held yesterday. Subarnapur recorded the highest 85.67 percent voter turnout while the lowest 64.86 percent was recorded in Ganjam.
