Bhubaneswar: Noted Odia film producer, industrialist from the Pipili region, and social worker Rabi Swain passed away today in the early morning while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 75.
Rabi Swain had been suffering from liver psoriasis and was being treated at the hospital at the time of his demise. He had produced several popular Odia films, including ‘Jora Jara Mulaka Tara’ directed by Raju Mishra, ‘Ki Heba Shua Poshile” directed by Basant Sahu, ‘Panjuri Bhitare Sari’ directed by Avatar Singh, and ‘Udandi Sita’. These films received significant appreciation from audiences across Odisha.
In addition to his contributions to the film industry, Rabi Swain was a prominent educationist and philanthropist. He was the founder of the Kshetramohan Memorial Trust, Om Shanti College of Science and Technology, Kshetramohan ITC, and Daitari ITC. His sudden demise has plunged the Pipili area into deep mourning.
Prominent leaders and well-wishers have expressed profound grief and paid heartfelt tributes to the departed soul. Pipili MLA Ashrit Pattanayak, former MLA Rudra Pratap Maharathy, Congress leader Nishikanta Mishra, and State Food Security Commission member Priyabrat Samantaray, among others, offered their condolences and extended sympathies to the grieving family members.
