Bhubaneswar: Popular Sambalpuri album artist Jasmin Majhi died while undergoing treatment in Burla. She had allegedly consumed acid meant for cleaning tiles kept at her home in Balangir district.
According to information, Jasmin was a multi-talented artist. She was a Sankirtan singer apart from acting as the lead actress in several music albums. On September 25 afternoon, she allegedly consumed acid that was kept for cleaning tiles at her residence.
She was rushed to Khaprakhol Health Centre by her family members before being shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir when her condition deteriorated. However, she died last night while undergoing treatment.
Police have registered an unnatural death case and launched an investigation. The exact reason behind the incident remains unclear. News of her death has left her followers, fans, and well-wishers in deep mourning.
Social media discussions have mentioned that her boyfriend had died of a heart attack a few days earlier, and she was reportedly mentally distressed after receiving that news. However, the authenticity of this claim has not been confirmed.
