Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today said that the situation in three worst-hit districts Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapara is returning to normalcy.

After reviewing the post-cyclone restoration work, Majhi said that a total of 8,09,513 people were evacuated to cyclone shelters; now only 1,10,770 remain. Those in flooded areas can stay until conditions normalize, Majhi said. The storm affected 22.84 lakh households, with electricity restored to over 92% by 7:30 pm, he added.

Kendrapada, Bhadrak, and Balasore districts were severely impacted. While Kendrapara has nearly normalized, Bhadrak faces water logging issues, with 77% restoration. Balasore’s roadblocks have been cleared, and 81% of consumers have electricity.

In Shimilipal, rains swelled the Budhabalang river, but levels are stabilizing. Twenty villages in Balasore were flooded, with 2,500 and 8,000 people rescued from Remuna and Balasore Sadar blocks, respectively.

Mayurbhanj’s electricity supply is normalized. Additional power boats were dispatched to Mayurbhanj and Balasore. The water level at Gobindpur Setu is below the danger mark. Twenty-eight snakebite victims received treatment.

Initial assessments indicate 2 lakh acres of land suffered crop loss. Farmers will receive immediate assistance after water release.”
