Bhubaneswar: Bansada police on Friday arrested five persons for attacking president of BJP Yuva Morcha of Odisha unit.
BJP Yuva Morcha team led by morcha president Abhilash Panda came to Chandabali to supervise the election affair of the party when miscreants attacked Panda and his accomplices with sharp weapons at Khapuria Chhak near Karanjamal in the district. As a result, Panda and his team members suffered grievous injuries on the head. Miscreants did not even spare Panda’s vehicle and damaged it.
The injured were shifted to Basudevpur Community Health Centre.
Based on a complaint filed by BJP workers, police have launched a crackdown against the hooligans and arrested five persons in this connection. Police efforts are on to nab other miscreants who are still at large.
Demanding a strict action against the accused involved in the violence, BJP’s state wing president Manmohan Samal said, “We condemned such attack and demanded the district administration and election commission to ensure a free and fair election in the constituency.”
