Bhubaneswar: A seven-month pregnant woman died under mysterious circumstances at Nuapatna village under Tigiria police station in Cuttack.
The deceased woman identified as Kalpana Dutta was married to Dipak Dutta nine years ago. The couple had a seven-year-old daughter and Kalpana was 7 months pregnant. On learning that Kalpana was unwell and hospitalized, her family members rushed to the Athagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital, only to find her dead.
Meanwhile, Kalpana’s father alleged that her in-laws subjected her to mental torture. He accused Kalpana’s husband and in-laws of murdering her by feeding her poison.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Kalpana’s husband, Dipak Dutta, and father-in-law, Prahallad Dutta.
Tigiria police then seized the body and conducted a post-mortem examination in the presence of Athagarh Sub-Collector Manas Ranjan. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family members.
