Bhubaneswar: The present rise in the number of Covid-19 cases across the country can’t be termed as the fourth wave as it is only a minor surge, said Odisha Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra on Monday.
He said that such a situation has not been experienced in the State. As surveillance and tests are underway, any such outbreak will be detected and reported immediately. Meanwhile, daily tests are being done as per ICMR guidelines, he added.
It is pertinent to mention that in a span of 24 hours, India’s new Covid cases have risen to 2,183 cases on Monday, which is nearly double from 1,150 reported the previous day.
As per sources, the number of people in Delhi-NCR reporting someone getting COVID in their close social network has risen by 500% in the last 15 days.
