Puri: President of India Droupadi Murmu arrived in Puri on Tuesday evening as part of her visit to Odisha. After landing at the Talabania helipad, she was received by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and senior officials. From the helipad, the President proceeded directly to Lok Bhavan, where she will stay overnight.
As part of her Puri itinerary, President Murmu will on Wednesday perform pind daan rituals at the sacred Swetaganga Pushkarini. She will later visit the Shree Jagannath Temple to offer prayers and have darshan of Lord Jagannath, accompanied by traditional puja and rituals. In view of the President’s visit, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place across Puri, with multiple layers of security deployed.
Earlier in the day, the President visited the Maa Biraja Temple in Jajpur, where she had darshan of the presiding deity and performed special puja and rituals. Tight security arrangements were enforced in the temple town during her visit.
Following her visit to Jajpur, President Murmu travelled to Balasore. She landed at a helipad near Fakir Mohan University, where she attended the university’s convocation ceremony as the chief guest. After completing the programme, the President departed from the Balasore helipad and arrived at the Talabania helipad in Puri later in the evening.
The President’s visit to key religious and educational institutions in Odisha has drawn significant attention, with state authorities ensuring smooth conduct of all programmes and enhanced security throughout her stay.
