Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday graced the ‘Boita Bandana Utsav’ at Odisha’s port town of Paradip on the occasion of Kartika Purnima.
She was accompanied by Governor Raghubar Das and Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu.
President Murmu flagged off a special boat at the event, commemorating the state’s ancient maritime glory. The ceremony was organised by the Paradip Port Authority.
During her visit to Paradip, Murmu boarded ‘Amogh’, a special vessel of the Indian Coast Guard. She also inspected port craft and addressed the fishing community.
Murmu, who had arrived in Bhubaneswar on Sunday evening on a two-day Odisha visit, had a night halt at Raj Bhavan in the state capital.
Murmu also inaugurated a Multi-Model Logistic Park and laid the foundation for a new reservoir and water treatment plant for Port Township and a next-gen vessel traffic management and information system.
