Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday extended her warm greetings to the people of the country, especially the people of Odisha, on the occasion of Nuakhai, the agriculture-based community festival of western Odisha.
Nuakhai, which marks the offering of the first harvest of the new crop to the deity, holds deep cultural significance in western Odisha and adjoining regions and is being celebrated with across the western Odisha with fanfare.
In a message posted on the occasion, the President said Nuakhai is not merely a traditional festival. It is also a symbol of social and familial bonding that finds expression through community feasts and gatherings of friends and relatives.
“I believe that through this festival, mutual harmony and unity will be further strengthened,” President Murmu stated.
She concluded her message by wishing everyone happiness, peace and prosperity on the auspicious occasion of Nuakhai.
