Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu’s scheduled two-day visit to her home district has been postponed in view of the likely cyclonic storm approaching Odisha.
The President was scheduled to visit Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district on October 28 and 29. However, sources said the visit has been deferred by a week due to unfavourable weather conditions and the possible impact of the cyclonic storm brewing over the Bay of Bengal. The programme has not been formally cancelled, but postponed, officials said.
Meanwhile, Mayurbhanj Collector has announced that the President’s visit has now been rescheduled to November 4 and 5. During her two-day Odisha visit, President Murmu was slated to visit Rairangpur, the Maa Kichakeswari Temple at Bahalda, Gorumahisani, and attend various other programmes in her native region.
