Bhubaneswar: Under the patronage of President Droupadi Murmu and in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, welfare projects worth Rs 47,600 crore were dedicated and foundation stones laid for Odisha’s development.
Several key projects of the Commerce and Transport Department were among those inaugurated. Two modern truck terminals at Kalahandi and Girishola in Ganjam district have been opened to reduce illegal parking on highways and provide rest facilities for long-haul drivers.
To make the driving license process transparent and free from human intervention, Automated Driving Testing Systems (ADTS) have been launched at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
In addition, Automated Vehicle Testing Centres (ATS) were inaugurated at nine locations: Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Balasore, Boudh, Bhubaneswar, Mayurbhanj, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Sundargarh, to modernize vehicle fitness testing.
The ‘Intelligent Enforcement Management System’ (IEMS) has also been implemented on four major routes to curb accidents and monitor reckless driving through technology. The routes are Sambalpur–Rourkela, Manguli–Sambalpur, Berhampur–Taptapani, and Berhampur–Bhanjanagar. Officials said IEMS will further expand to strengthen road safety systems in the state.
The projects aim to boost transport infrastructure, improve road safety, and enhance facilities for drivers and vehicle owners across Odisha.
