Jharsuguda: Police on Tuesday detained a primary school teacher on charges of misbehaving with several female students in Jharsuguda district. This incident took place under Rengali police jurisdiction.

As per the reports, the teacher, employed at a government school in Rengali, allegedly molested Class VI and Class VII female students. The incident reportedly occurred on October 8 when one of the students brought allegations against the teacher accusing the latter of touching her private parts with malicious intent. However, the student initially failed to report the incident due to fear.

The matter surfaced later when five other students came forward with similar complaints. On October 15, a community meeting was held in the village, where the students shared the ordeals they faced with local residents.

Following this, the villagers filed a formal complaint at the Rengali police station. The police have since detained the teacher and launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
