Bhubaneswar: Principal Secretary of Urban Development & Housing and Commerce & Transport Departments, Usha Padhee, visited Keonjhar district today to review key urban development and transport-related works, as directed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
During her visit, Padhee inspected Sponge Colony under Ward No. 9 of Keonjhar Municipality, which has been facing persistent waterlogging and drainage issues for several years. Accompanied by senior officials, she assessed the root causes of the problem and explored possible solutions. She also interacted with local residents, assuring them of early redressal and urging their cooperation for effective implementation of remedial measures.
Padhee then reviewed the facilities at the Government Bus Stand and the Municipal Bus Stand operated by the Odisha State Transport Corporation (OSTC). She assessed infrastructure gaps and held discussions with OSTC managers and regional transport officers to streamline services and address operational challenges.
In a comprehensive review meeting with district officials, Padhee took stock of ongoing urban and transport projects and emphasized the need for accelerated implementation. Ahead of the monsoon season, she directed officials to resolve drainage and waterlogging issues across the district, ensuring citizens’ hardships are minimised.
Padhee reiterated the government’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure and public transport systems in Keonjhar and other regions of the state. Her visit aimed to expedite the implementation of urban development projects and enhance the quality of life for citizens.
