Bhubaneswar: Capital Police have issued a ‘latka’ (proclamation notice) against an absconding accused involved in a 2020 POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case.
The absconding accused has been identified as Akshya Nayak, son of Manoj Nayak from Kedar Palli Basti, has been on the run since the alleged incident.
“To prevent crime and ensure justice, we have issued a proclamation notice for the absconding accused. We have also announced his absconding status in the locality to keep the community informed,” started Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena while addressing a press conference on Sunday.
The ‘latka’ was posted at Nayak’s residence on Sunday and a public announcement was made in the area. This is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to pressure the accused into surrendering.
“A time frame has been provided for him to voluntarily surrender. If he fails to do so, his movable and immovable properties will be seized as part of our law enforcement procedures,” the DCP added.
This move highlights the Bhubaneswar police’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring accountability for person on the run.
