Bhubaneswar: A shocking incident has come to light at Satyabadi near Sakhigopal in Puri district, where a roadside eatery named ‘Jaya Hotel’ on NH 216 was sealed by district administration after allegations surfaced that the hotel was serving beef to customers under the guise of mutton.
The hotel, known for its special mutton dishes, attracted hundreds of customers daily. However, complaints began pouring in that beef was being served instead of mutton, and sometimes, even beef fat was mixed with mutton and cooked.
Following repeated complaints, the administration swung into action, and the police sealed the hotel. A wire fence has been erected around the premises, and police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order. The hotel assistant, who was responsible for delivering meat parcels to other hotels, was also beaten up by locals.
In a significant development, the district administration has sent a meat sample to the State Laboratory at OUAT in Bhubaneswar for examination.
