Puri: The sensational case in which a son allegedly murdered his mother and covered her body with cement plaster has taken a new turn after police recovered an Aadhaar card of the accused from the crime scene and the rented house.
According to reports, The recovered Aadhaar card shows the accused, Madan Dalai, as a resident of Red Cross Road in Puri. This has put the investigating team in a dilemma — whether the Aadhaar card is fake or the house owner’s claim that Madan is a resident of Paralakhemundi is false.
Police are now advancing the probe in this direction to establish Madan’s real identity. According to CCTV footage collected from ‘Bhagaban Variety Store’ located in front of the rented house, Madan was last seen roaming in the Jaigad area on August 20.
On the other hand, mobile tracking data shows that his phone’s last location was recorded at Puri Railway Station on August 21. This has led police to suspect that Madan spent one more day in Puri after committing the crime.
It is learnt that Puri police have shared the photographs and videos of the accused with Paralakhemundi police. Madan had come to Puri three months ago and was staying in the rented house identifying himself as a resident of Paralakhemundi.
During verification, the Aadhaar card was found to be fake. A mobile SIM card had also been purchased using the same forged Aadhaar.
