Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today issued notices to four respondents including Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb while hearing a petition seeking the opening of the Ratna Bhandar of the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri.
The High Court has served notices to Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Ranjan Kumar Das, Chairman of Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and its Odisha Superintendent while hearing a petition filed by former BJP State unit president Samir Mohanty.
The High Court has fixed August 7 as the next date for a hearing in the matter.
Mohanty has sought the High Court’s direction to the State government to open the Ratna Bhandar of the 12th century shrine for carrying out necessary repair work as it is in a dilapidated condition and prepare a fresh inventory of the ornaments, valuables kept therein for decades.
