Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, Puri police have arrested four accused involved in the Chandanpur jewellery robbery incident, which occurred on November 20. The arrested individuals are part of a larger gang with inter-state links.
According to DIG Satyajit Nayak, the police seized substantial evidence, including 8 gold necklaces weighing 132 grams, 31 kg silver ornaments, cash worth Rs 6 lakh, one car, one bike, 6 mobile phones, and one gun with 2 live cartridges. The total value of gold and cash seized is approximately Rs 78 lakh 96 thousand.
Puri SP Prateek Singh stated that the investigation involved forming two teams, raiding multiple locations, and gathering human intelligence. The police identified two bikes and one four-wheeler involved in the crime, leading to the arrest of four suspects. However, three key accused are still at large.
The robbery occurred when three motorcycle-borne miscreants intercepted a jeweller and his relatives at gunpoint and stole bags containing gold, silver ornaments, and cash. The Chandanpur Police launched a detailed investigation, utilising local intelligence and CCTV footage analysis to identify the culprits.
