Yellow Warning Issued For Thunderstorms And Gusty Winds Across Odisha For Next 5 Days

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain or thunderstorms at one or two places over several parts of Odisha during the next five days, while issuing a yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds in many districts.

Here goes the day-wise forecast by the regional weather office.

Day 1 (Valid till 0830 hrs IST of 05.04.2026):

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are very likely at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Boudh.

Hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur.

Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are expected in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, while gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are likely in several other districts.

Day 2 (05.04.2026 to 06.04.2026):

Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada.

Besides, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Koraput and Malkangiri.

Day 3 (06.04.2026 to 07.04.2026):

Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada.

That apart, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Koraput and Malkangiri.

Day 4 (07.04.2026 to 08.04.2026):

Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

As per prediction for the same day, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada and Balangir.

Day 5 (08.04.2026 to 09.04.2026):

Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.

Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Khordha, Puri and Nayagarh.
