Bhubaneswar: In a bid to prevent the carrying of mobile phones into the sacred premises of the Shree Jagannath Temple, the Puri police have put up posters around the temple in Puri today.
The posters, placed at various points around the 12th-century shrine, carry a message, “Mobile Phones are strictly prohibited inside Shree Jagannath Temple, Violators will be penalized and prosecuted as per law.”
Puri SP Vinit Agrawal, addressing the issue on Tuesday, said, “I request all devotees visiting the temple to refrain from carrying smartphones or cameras, as they are not allowed within the premises. I urge everyone to support us in maintaining the sanctity of the temple.”
He further commented on a recent incident involving a viral video showing the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
“We have registered a case and the investigation is ongoing. The accused will be apprehended. Additionally, we recently detected an individual using a drone near the temple and our team was able to catch the person responsible. The drone was seized and a case was registered against the individual,” he said.
