Bhubaneswar: Puri Town police today foiled a major dacoity attempt with the arrest of six persons from the forested area behind Barabati parking.
Police have seized one Automark pistol, one 9mm pistol, one machete, two mobile phones, and one Pulsar motorcycle from the possession of the accused persons.
The accused persons have been identified as Krushna Chandra Palei (34) alias Kalia of Khuntia Colony under Baseli Sahi police station limits, Manguli Barik (25) of Lokanath Road under Town police station limits, Narayan Panda (28) alias Papu of Nagam Mutt lane under Town police station limits, Purna Chandra Sarangi (23) alias Kanha of Bhatta Jaga under Baseli Sahi police station limits, Sukant Swain (35) of Khandiabandh Sahi under Sadar police station limits, and Surjya Prasad Mohapatra (28) of Chudanga Sahi under Town police station limits.
Police said the accused persons were nabbed from the forested area behind Barabati parking while they were planning to commit a major dacoity.
Acting on a tip-off police raided the forested area leading to the arrests and seizure of firearms.
