Bhubaneswar: Puri Police on Tuesday said its dedicated Anti-Snatching Team achieved significant success during the Rath Yatra 2026, arresting 175 alleged snatchers and recovering 304 lost mobile phones as part of a special security drive conducted during the annual festival.
Sharing the details through a series of posts on its official X handle, Puri Police said the recovered mobile phones and other valuables were returned to their rightful owners after due verification at the “Missing Mobile Mela.” The initiative was aimed at tracing and restoring lost property reported during the world-famous car festival, which witnesses the arrival of lakhs of devotees from across the country.
According to the police, several beneficiaries expressed their happiness and appreciation after receiving their recovered mobile phones during the Missing Mobile Mela. The department said the initiative helped restore public confidence while reinforcing its commitment to citizen-centric policing.
Puri Police also appealed to people who have not yet reported or recovered their lost mobile phones to register their complaints through the Puri Police Sahayak WhatsApp chatbot on +91 87631 99400.
