Puri: Puri Police has seized several fake passes being used to gain entry into restricted areas during the ongoing Rath Yatra and initiated legal action against those involved in their preparation, use and circulation.
According to the district administration, authorised passes have been issued to employees, servitors, government officials from various departments, NGO representatives and other approved personnel to facilitate the smooth conduct of services, security arrangements and administrative work during Rath Yatra 2026.
To prevent unauthorised access, Puri Police has intensified verification of passes at all entry points. During the checking process, some individuals were found attempting to enter using forged passes. The fake passes were immediately seized.
Police said strict legal action is being taken against all persons involved in the preparation, use or misuse of fake passes in accordance with the prevailing laws. An investigation has also been launched to identify those responsible for producing and supplying the forged documents.
Puri Police appealed to the public to use only valid and officially issued passes while entering restricted areas connected with the Rath Yatra. It warned that anyone found using fake passes or involved in their preparation or distribution would face stringent legal action.
