Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Chhattisa Nijog at its meeting held at the Niladri Bhakta Niwas here finalised the rituals and schedule for the upcoming annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and His siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.
Since Netra Utsav, Naba Jouban Darshan and Rath Yatra fall on the same day this year, the rituals and schedule of this year’s Rath Yatra will be held as it was done in 1971. Gundicha Yatra, the first leg of Rath Yatra will be held on July 7. As per the schedule finalised at the meeting Pahandi of the deities will begin at 1.00 PM and the pulling of chariots will commence at 5.00 PM on Gundicha Yatra day (July 7).
“It has been decided that Pahandi of the deities will begin at 1.10 PM and pulling of chariots will commence at 5.00 PM. The schedule of rituals has been finalised as it was done in 1971 since Naba Jouban Darshan and pulling on chariots fall on the same day i.e. Gundicha Yatra. Arrangements have been made for the pulling of chariots at 5.00 PM,” informed Gourahari Pradhan, Member, Chhattisa Nijog briefing reporters after the meeting.
Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Vir Vikram Yadav said that all efforts will be made to make Mahaprabhu’s Rath Yatra this year a joyful experience for the devotees.
“In today’s meeting, we discussed Mahaprabhu’s Rath Yatra. The rituals and schedule and the related arrangements were discussed and approved at the meeting. Our endeavour will be to make Mahaprabhu’s Rath yatra a joyful experience for the devotees with the Mahaprabhu’s blessings,” said Yadav.
