Bhubaneswar: The pilgrim town, Puri, will soon be under complete CCTV surveillance. The district administration has proposed a special CCTV project to the State government for approval.
The Puri CCTV Project proposal has been given to the Works Department via OBCC (Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation), Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain.
It will cover the entire town, including the Shree Jagannath Temple and the Grand Road, with high-capacity CCTV surveillance
All CCTV cameras will be connected to a command and control room, informed the Collector.
The project will be implemented shortly after receiving government approval. Approximately 620 CCTV cameras will be installed at various city entrances, such as Samang, Malatipatapur, and Mansaghat, connected via optical fibre with a command and control setup. This initiative aims to make Puri a crime-free and safe city, with efficient traffic management.
To enhance security, adequate CCTV cameras have already been installed on the inner and outer walls of the Jagannath Temple to control crowd movement. Additionally, tenders have been invited for installing CCTV cameras at all entrances and exit points of the temple and Nata Mandap, he added.
