Puri: With a day left for Mahashivratri, Saswat Ranjan Sahoo from Puri has crafted an intricate miniature model of the Kedarnath temple using 602 matchsticks to mark Mahashivratri.
The 12 cm tall and 9 cm wide model, which took four days to complete, showcases Saswat’s exceptional artistic skills and devotion to Lord Shiva. Each matchstick was meticulously assembled to replicate the revered pilgrimage site.
Saswat, a resident of Kumbharapada, Puri, said, “This model is my tribute to Lord Shiva and a heartfelt greeting on Mahashivratri. The Kedarnath Temple holds immense spiritual significance.”
Saswat’s passion for miniature structures has earned him admiration for his precision and artistic representation of the sacred temple. His creation adds a creative touch to the Mahashivratri celebrations across the country.
It is pertinent to note that Sahoo has been creating sculptures since the COVID-19 lockdown. He rose to fame after creating a miniature version of Ayodha’s Ram Temple using 7, 780 sticks.
In 2022, Sahoo had created three miniature chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra with matchsticks. He had made the miniature chariots using 4,830 matchsticks and he took 18 days to complete.
