Bhubaneswar: The Odia film ‘Pushkara’, directed by Subhransu Das, has received the Best Odia Film award at the 71st National Film Awards. The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at a special ceremony in New Delhi, attended by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The film, based on eminent writer Sankar Tripathy’s novel ‘Nadabindu’, explores themes of tradition, identity, and social transformation in rural Odisha. Starring Sabyasachi Mishra and Supriya Nayak in lead roles, ‘Pushkara’ has already garnered critical acclaim at several film festivals.
Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo congratulated the team, calling it a proud moment for Odisha’s cinematic legacy.
“Heartiest congratulations to the entire team of ‘Pushkara’ and director Subhransu Das for winning the National Film Award for Best Odia Film,” Singh Deo said, highlighting the film’s storytelling, cultural depth, and creative excellence.
