Sambalpur: Bamra bandh and rail roko stir called by Bamra Railway Action Committee, various organizations and political parties in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Wednesday disrupted life and rail traffic in the region. The agitators have been demanding the stoppage of 12 trains at Bamra station for the ease of local commuters.
The rail blockade stir began in front of the Bamra railway station at 6:00 am today and affected the movement of trains on the Howrah-Mumbai route. The agitation was continuing till the time of filing this report.
A press communiqué issued by the Eastern Coastal Railway (ECoR) on Tuesday said that in view of public agitation at Bamra Railway Station in the Rourkela-Jharsuguda Railway Section under Chakradharpur Railway Division of South Eastern Railway, eight pairs of trains originating/terminating and passing through ECoR jurisdiction have been cancelled, partially cancelled or diverted.
