Bhubaneswar: Railway officials announced compensation for victims of the derailment of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express near Nergundi station in Cuttack district on Sunday.
An ex-gratia of Rs 5,00,000 will be provided to the next of kin of the deceased, while Rs 2,50,000 will be given to those with grievous injuries and Rs 50,000 to those with simple injuries.
The only fatality confirmed in the incident was 22-year-old Suvankar Roy, who tragically lost his life in the derailment. Railway authorities have also provided immediate medical assistance to the injured passengers.
In a statement released by the Railway Department, the following updates on affected train services were provided:

- Mail Express trains are now running on the Howrah-Visakhapatnam UP line.
- Down line trains are diverted via Barang-Naraj-Kapilas Road instead of the usual Barang-Cuttack-Nergundi route.
