Koraput: In view of the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Koraput district due to a developing low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, the district administration on Monday directed all officers and staff not to leave their respective headquarters without prior permission.
According to an order issued by the Collector and District Magistrate, Koraput, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the formation of a low-pressure area over the east-central and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into a depression between September 23 and 24.
The weather system is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to Koraput district.
In view of the forecast, all officers and staff of the district administration have been instructed to remain at their respective headquarters until September 25. They have also been directed not to leave their headquarters without the prior permission of the Collector and District Magistrate.
The order stated that any deviation from the instructions would be viewed seriously.
The directive has been issued as part of the district administration’s preparedness to deal with any situation arising from the anticipated heavy rainfall.
