Bhubaneswar: While some places in Odisha experienced a slight rise in the mercury on Wednesday, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the rainfall activity is likely to intensify across the state on Thursday under the influence of Nor’wester.
According to the weather office, while the extent of rains will increase in the state on Thursday, there will be no significant change in the state’s weather over the next five days.
Several areas in the state are likely to experience rain and thunderstorms with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph. Heavy rain is likely in several districts, including Mayurbhanj, Angul, Balasore, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur.
Thundershowers, rain, and stormy winds are likely to occur in the coastal areas of Odisha.
A yellow warning has been issued for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput on Thursday.
As per forecasts, the impact of kalbaisakhi is likely to be experienced in several parts of Odisha till May 13.
Meanwhile, maximum temperatures have dropped by 10°C in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, while in the interior districts it has dropped to 15°C.
