Bhubaneswar: The Ravenshaw University in Cuttack on Wednesday refuted allegations of ragging of a second-year undergraduate student by seniors in the university hostel.
There were reports that a second-year UG student had lodged a complaint on Tuesday alleging that he was subjected to ragging and assault by a group of third-year students at Jagannath Hostel following a dispute over an online mobile game.
The university had reportedly ordered a probe into the allegation. However, the varsity authorities on Wednesday clarified that it was a misunderstanding between juniors and seniors during an online game, which has been resolved amicably.
“There was a misunderstanding between the second-year UG student and some of his seniors at a hostel during an online mobile game a few days ago. The issue has been resolved through discussion,” said Chief Warden Purnendu Parhi.
Parhi said no case of ragging was established during the preliminary inquiry and the students have patched up after counselling.
