Rayagada: Police have cracked the stabbing murder case of auto driver Balaram Khara, which occurred on December 14, 2024, at Phuljaba Chowk under Tikiri police station in Rayagada district.
Police have arrested 25-year-old Ramesh Jhodia, a resident of Maikanch Jhirigaon area, who was accused.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Swati S Kumar, the accused had borrowed Rs 25,000 from the victim which is a friend of the accused in August this year. However, when the victim demanded repayment, the accused threatened to kill him. On the day of the incident, the accused bought a steel knife and attacked the victim from behind while they were in the auto rickshaw.
The police have seized the steel knife used in the murder, along with two ATM cards, two purses, and the safety boots of the deceased. A case has been registered against the accused at the Tikiri police station, and an investigation is in progress.
