Rayagada: In a stern move, Rayagada District Collector Ashutosh Kulkarni barred several district-level officials from entering the grievance cell on Monday, for arriving late.
The officials, who arrived late to the district-level public grievance hearing, were denied entry, sparking an unpleasant situation.
As per reports, the programme, held at the District Council Conference Hall, was scheduled to start at 10 am on Monday. While the Collector reached the venue on time, many officials failed to arrive as per the schedule. Even the Sub-Collector wasn’t spared for arriving late.
The Collector, expressing anger over late arrival of officers, instructed security personnel to prevent latecomers from entering the hall. Officials from key departments were among the 12 those turned away.
The Collector’s action has sent shockwaves among officials, with many expressing unease and fear of repercussions.
The Collector, meanwhile, made it clear that no leniency will be shown to those who neglect their duties.
The incident has sparked a mix of reactions, with some supporting the Collector’s tough stance and others criticizing it as excessive.
