Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today arrested Superintending Engineer Sahadev Kisan of the Public Health department, Rayagada and forwarded him to the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.
A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is currently underway.
On Wednesday, the Vigilance team had intercepted Sahadev Kisan while he was carrying suspected ill-gotten cash amounting to Rs. 1,50,000. Following the interception, simultaneous searches were conducted at two locations linked to Kisan in Sambalpur and Rayagada.
During the searches, assets worth crores were unearthed, including two high-value plots in Sambalpur town, bank and insurance deposits, investments in mutual funds and shares worth around Rs. 50 lakhs, gold ornaments weighing 100 grams, and household articles worth Rs. 10 lakhs.
Further investigation revealed that Kisan had deposited suspected ill-gotten cash of approximately Rs. 16 lakhs in a bank passbook opened in the name of his friend Ramesh Kumar in HDFC Bank, Gol Bazar Branch, Sambalpur. Kisan had also invested around Rs. 15 lakhs in the share market in Ramesh Kumar’s name.
Kisan, who joined government service as an Assistant Executive Engineer in 2016, had been promoted to the rank of Superintending Engineer on March 1, 2025, and was continuing in that position at Rayagada till date.
