Wireless Market - Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio continues to dominate Odisha’s wireless telecom market with a 47.54% share, while Airtel holds 33.77% and BSNL trails at 15.58%, Electronics & Information Technology Minister Mukesh Mahaling informed the state assembly on Monday. Vodafone Idea accounted for 3.10% of the market.

In a written reply to a question by senior BJD leader and Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain, Minister Mahaling detailed the fragmented distribution of wireless subscribers among various service providers in the state. The data reflects the growing dominance of private telecom operators, particularly Reliance Jio and Airtel, over state-run BSNL.

The minister further stated that the Odisha government currently has no plans to introduce an alternative service option for subscribers, similar to the initiative recently taken by the Kerala government.
