Bhubaneswar: Eminent Sanskrit scholar and internationally renowned educationist Professor Narasingh Charan Panda has today assumed charge as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Odisha (CUO).
Professor Panda, currently the senior most professor of CUO and Dean of all schools, will serve in this capacity until the new Vice Chancellor assumes charge or until further orders. He has been appointed after the resignation of Professor Chakradhar Tripathy from the post of Vice Chancellor. His resignation has been accepted by the President of India. Professor Tripathi joined CUO as the Vice Chancellor on September 26, 2022.
After assuming charge, Professor Panda addressed the university community and said that these are challenging times for the university and only through collective efforts can we move forward. He called for heartfelt support from all the teachers, officers, staff, researchers, students and all stakeholders of the university, the university’s public relations officer said in a press release.
Professor Panda joined CUO on 23 January 2023 as a regular professor in the Department of Sanskrit. At CUO, he served as Registrar I/C, Finance Officer I/C and Director IQAC. Prior to this, he was associated with the Department of Sanskrit and Indological Studies, Punjab University, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. His academic journey spans over three decades.
