Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has issued a statement clarifying rumours about new school closures and mergers in the state. According to the School and Mass Education Department, news reports suggesting new school closures or mergers are “completely baseless.”

The government had previously merged 5,632 schools with nearby institutions in 2020-21, as per notifications dated March 11, 2020. However, the department assured that no new directives have been issued to close any schools in the state.

The clarification aims to put an end to speculation and reassure students, parents, and staff about the status of schools in Odisha.
