Retd Senior Assistant-Cum-Cashier Of Sambalpur Municipality Convicted For Corruption

Bhubaneswar: Senior Assistant-cum-Cashier of Sambalpur Municipality was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment for misappropriating Government money to the tune of Rs.4,00,010.

A special vigilance court in Sambalpur also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Abanikanta Naik.

Naik was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) PC Act,1988/409 IPC, for misappropriating Government money to the tune of Rs.4,00,010 collected on different dates from different Octroi check gates by him and not depositing the same in the office.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Naik following his conviction.
