Bhubaneswar: Special Vigilance Court in Baripada on Friday sentenced retired Managing Director (MD) of Mangovindpur LAMPCS in Mayurbhanj district Narendra Prasad Panda to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 3 years for loan fraud.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Panda. In default of payment of fine he shall undergo RI for 2 months more for the offence, the court ruled.
According to an official statement, Panda had shown undue official favour to ineligible loanees by preparing a forged list of loanees under the debt relief-debt waiver scheme 2008 and had caused loss to the government.
The statement said that Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Panda following his conviction.
