Bhubaneswar: Special Vigilance Court, Cuttack on Tuesday sentenced retired Village Level Worker (VLW) of Kankadapal gram panchayat under Sukinda block of Jajpur district Ashok Kumar Nayak to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 2 years and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 after convicting him for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant.
In default of payment of fine, Nayak shall have to undergo further RI for a period of 6 months for the offence, the court ruled.
Nayak had demanded and accepted bribe from a complainant for submitting verification report in his favour for allotment of house under ‘Mo Kudia’ yojana.
Odisha Vigilance had charge sheeted Nayak in a case registered against him in Cuttack Vigilance police station on 02.06.2015 in this connection.
The Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Nayak following his conviction.
