Bhubaneswar: A high-level meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Minister for Revenue & Disaster Management, Suresh Pujari. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the various achievements and accomplishments of the Revenue & Disaster Management Department over the past two years. The Minister directed officials to ensure that revenue services effectively reach every citizen.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister stated, “What we consider as our achievement is not the real success; rather, the schemes and initiatives that are accepted and appreciated by the common people as successful are our true achievements.” In this context, discussions were also held regarding several new initiatives and future action plans of the Department.

Senior officers at the State level will be assigned responsibilities as Nodal Officers for different districts and they have been directed to undertake field visits to their respective districts in the coming days. During these visits, the senior officers will stay overnight in the districts, interact with the public to gather feedback regarding government revenue services and create awareness among citizens about the Department’s key public-oriented services.

Further, as a new initiative to take Tahasil services to the grassroots level, the Revenue Department will soon launch the ‘Ama Gaaanre Ama Tahasil (Tahasil At Doorstep) programme. In this regard, Tahasil Camp Courts will be organized at village and Panchayat levels in the coming days, as directed by Revenue Minister Pujari. Earlier, people had to visit Tahasil offices for various services ; however, through these Camp Courts, Tahasil officials will now reach villages directly to provide immediate resolution of public grievances and deliver important revenue services such as correction of Record of Rights (RoR), demarcation and other revenue related services. The Minister also directed that grievances related to revenue services be heard through these Camp Courts and prompt service delivery be ensured.

The Minister further directed simplification of the rules relating to conversion of agricultural land classification (Kisama) in urban areas. It was discussed in the meeting that more than 2.5 crore revenue services have been delivered over the last two years under the Odisha Right to Public Services (ORTPS) Act and efforts will be made to make these services even more citizen-centric in the coming days.

It was also decided that a new Rehabilitation and Resettlement framework for displaced persons will soon be drafted and implemented. Among others, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue & Disaster Management Department, Dr. Arabinda Padhee; Executive Director, Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), Dr. Kamal Lochan Mishra and senior officers of the Revenue & Disaster Management Department were present in the meeting.
