Bhubaneswar: The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has identified 26,500 acre revenue forest land in January, 2022, which would be used for afforestation. The land has been handed over to the Forest and Environment Department which will carry out afforestation on priority basis. This would facilitate different development projects which were facing land issues, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department informed today.
R&DM Department Secretary Satyabrata Sahu convened a meeting of senior officials of different districts to review the status of transfer of land to respective departments. During the meeting, it was revealed that the Schools and Colleges are being given Pattas (record of rights) for the land on which the institutions are established. By March 5, all educational institutions will get the RoRs, said Sahu.
He directed Additional Collectors to expedite land acquisition process for railway, national highway and state highway projects. Sahu advised the officials to check pilferage and theft of minor minerals and increase revenue from this sector. The R&DM department will be conducting regular reviews to monitor the progress in this direction, Sahu added.
