Jeypore: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed Revenue Inspector Training Institute at Phulbad in Jeypore city, marking a significant boost to capacity-building in revenue administration in the undivided Koraput district.
The institute, which had been under construction for the past two years, was formally opened by the Minister, who also interacted with and held discussions with newly appointed Revenue Inspectors during the inaugural programme.
With the establishment of this training institute, newly recruited Revenue Inspectors from the undivided Koraput district will now receive their professional training in Jeypore itself before taking charge of their respective postings.
Earlier, trainee Revenue Inspectors had to travel to distant locations such as Khallikote, Bhubaneswar, or Cuttack for their training, causing logistical challenges and inconvenience.
The new facility is expected to provide greater ease and efficiency in training delivery. Equipped with modern infrastructure, the institute will offer skills-based and contemporary training modules to prepare Revenue Inspectors for field-level responsibilities. It also includes hostel accommodation for a total of 76 trainees.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Pujari highlighted the importance of well-trained revenue officials in effective governance and disaster management, particularly in tribal and remote regions.
The inaugural event was attended by Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha, Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhathra, District Collector Manoj Satyaban Mahajan, Superintendent of Police Rohit Verma, and several senior administrative officers of the district.
Officials said the institute will play a crucial role in strengthening grassroots revenue administration across southern Odisha.
