Berhampur: Sound and lighting equipment, generators, and vehicles belonging to two rival DJs were seized, while their houses were sealed after a clash erupted during a Ganesh idol immersion procession in Phulta village, Berhampur.
The crackdown followed a late-night confrontation on Saturday when DJ vehicles from Balipada Bajrangi DJ and Rahul DJ of Padmotola in Gautami Panchayat competed over sound volume during the immersion.
The rivalry escalated into repeated collisions between the vehicles, damaging lights and soundboxes. Several youths sitting atop the DJs also fell off during the scuffle.
The disturbance, which continued for nearly an hour between 10 PM and 11 PM, was finally defused after villagers intervened and urged both groups to complete the immersion rituals.
In response, a joint team led by Berhampur Sub-Collector Abhishek Kumar, along with Sanakhemundi Tehsildar, Kukudakhandi Tehsildar, and Sadar Police, conducted raids on the residences of both DJ owners.
The police sealed their houses and booked cases against the owners as well as the concerned puja committee. The Sadar Police is interrogating the DJ owners.
