Ice cream factory

Rourkela: The Rourkela Municipal Cooperation (RMC) raided an ice cream factory running illegally and destroyed over 100 KG of ice cream prepared in unhygienic conditions at Industrial Estate area in the city on Thursday.

The RMC authorities shut down the ice cream factory named Rainbow Ice Cream Factory which was operating without a valid license for two years. Despite repeated warnings, the factory continued to manufacture ice cream without adhering to proper hygiene standards.

The food officers of the civic body raided the factory and seized over 100 kg of ice cream, manufacturing machines and other equipment before sealing the unit.

“We conducted raids on the Rainbow ice cream factory which had been running without any valid license. We have sealed the unit after destroying all the ice cream in the factory,” RMC assistant commissioner Ajit Patnaik said.

Swagatika Behera, food officer said, “The packets bore no mention of manufacture & expiry date or batch number. We also found the license number on the packets fake. On the instruction of ADM, we sealed the factory with the seizure of over 100 kg of ice cream.”
