Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, Rourkela police have arrested two interstate burglars from Jharkhand who were involved in a string of house burglaries in the Steel City.
The arrested persons were identified as Shambhu Kumar Singh (45) and Ankit Rajkumar (21), both residents of East Singhbhum district.
According to DSP (Zone-I) Jogeswar Panda, the burglars targeted homes while the occupants were away.
“The complainant returned home in the evening to find the main gate broken and valuables missing. Gold, silver, cash, and other items were stolen. Following the complaint, Sector-7 Police registered PS Case No. 166,” he said.
A special team, led by Sector-7 IIC Soumya Ranjan Giri and Sector-19 SI Rajesh Behera, conducted multiple raids and verified numerous leads. The police recovered a car, seven gold chains and necklaces, 15 gold rings, silver ornaments, cash of Rs 29,000, and burglary tools.
The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the case.
