Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, Rourkela Police on Monday arrested two men and recovered gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh, dismantling a well-organised inter-state theft syndicate.
The accused have been identified as Shambhu Kumar Singh (45), a habitual offender from Jamshedpur with over a dozen cases since 2012, and Ankit Raj Kumar (21), also from Jamshedpur.
According to the police, the syndicate was uncovered during investigations of multiple theft cases registered at Sector-19 and Sector-7 Police Stations. During remand, the accused led officers to Jharkhand, where the stolen jewellery was recovered.
The recovered property includes 1 gold mangalsutra, 2 gold chains, 9 gold rings, 4 pairs of gold earrings, and 1 diamond finger ring.
“This successful operation marks a significant blow to organised theft networks operating across states. Rourkela Police remain committed to protecting citizens and recovering stolen property,” stated the Rourkela Police in a post on X.
